Role Overview
The Manager – Media & Corporate Communications will report to the General Manager – Events & Corporate Communications and will lead strategic initiatives that enhance the ICC brand, deepen fan engagement, and maximize the global impact of ICC events. This role blends creative storytelling, high-level media relations, and brand positioning to ensure that cricket’s narrative reaches diverse international audiences.
Key Responsibilities
1. Brand & Reputation Management
The successful candidate will strategically communicate the ICC’s story to strengthen its reputation and protect its public image. This includes promoting cricket’s role models and heroes to inspire the next generation of fans.
2. Audience Engagement
Develop targeted PR campaigns that engage existing fans and attract new audiences. All messaging should align with the ICC’s Global Growth Strategy to ensure consistency and impact.
3. Leadership Positioning
Promote ICC’s Chair, CEO, and senior officials in top-tier global media outlets, reinforcing the organization’s position as the leading authority in world cricket.
4. Event & Corporate Communications
Lead media relations and PR strategies for ICC events, working closely with Local Organizing Committees. Oversee corporate communications to support ICC’s commercial, broadcast, and digital strategies.
5. Media Relations & Crisis Communication
Manage daily media interactions, inquiries, and monitoring. Proactively address reputational risks and deliver strategic responses during high-pressure situations.
6. Content Creation
Draft speeches, key messages, and executive briefings for senior ICC staff. Collaborate with the marketing team to produce impactful media releases and pitch stories to influential outlets.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related fields.
- 7–9 years of experience in media relations, corporate communications, or PR, preferably in sports, entertainment, or global events.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale PR campaigns, including crisis management.
- Strong global media connections, particularly in sports.
- Expertise in storytelling, stakeholder engagement, and brand positioning.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Communications, Media Studies, or Sports Management.
- Experience in the global sports industry.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and Word.
- Deep knowledge of the global media landscape and cricket’s ecosystem.
